ANGELS ARE A REAL BLESSING!
The Bible affirms the reality of angels. They are a true blessing for us! Nevertheless, extra biblical accounts are bringing confussion to people concerning the nature and mission of angels. I've had many experiences with angels myself and know people who have actually seen them. It is marvellous to know angels are all around us, but is is even better to know God himself is always with us!
Concerning angels, consider the following:
1. ANGELS ARE NOT TO BE WORSHIPPED! ONLY GOD IS TO BE WORSHIPPED!
- Angels were created by God to worship, adore and serve Him. When an angel talked to John on the island of Patmos, he fell at his feet to worship the angel, but the angel said to him: "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!"(Revelation 19:10) Paul also warns us in Colossians 2:18: "Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels..."
2. WE SHOULDN'T PRAY TO ANGELS. WE SHOULD ONLY PRAY TO GOD!
- Angels are God's servants. When in need, we should only pray to God. In His love and mercy, God will answer our prayers according to His will. In doing so. He might choose to send angels to help us. When Daniel was spared from the lions, he said: "My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me."(Daniel 6:22). In Psalm 91:11we read: "For he (God) will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." The book of Hebrews 1:14 says: "Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?"
3. ANGELS ARE NOT SPIRITS OF DEAD PEOPLE! PEOPLE WHO DIE DO NOT BECOME ANGELS!
- When people die, they do not become angels. Angels are angels and humans are humans. In Revelation 7:9 John writes: "After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb...", obviously refering to people. Then, in verse 11 he mentions the angels: "All the angels were standing around the throne..."
4. ANGELS CAN'T PREACH THE GOOD NEWS OF SALVATION. ONLY HUMANS HAVE THAT MINISTRY.
- In 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 we read: "And he (God) has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God." We are commissioned to preach the Gospel, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Then, the Holy Spirit works inside of people to bring them to repentance. Angels can't work inside the spirit of men. Only God can do it, and He uses us to present His good news of salvation to others.
